Visa Blow to our Borders

Get Britain has been quoted on page 5 of today’s Daily Express. The story covers a recent ruling by the European Court of Justice (ECJ) which is a fresh blow to our borders controls, allowing millions more to flock to Britain.

It used to be the case non-EU relatives of EU citizens needed visas before they can come to Britain, even if they live within the European Union. If they wanted to live or work in Britain they would have to apply for a visa and renew it after six months.

The ECJ ruled Britain has no right to enforce travel controls on non-EU nationals who have been granted residency permits by another Member State. Now non-European relatives of EU citizens can make use of the EU’s free movement rules to enter Britain without any restriction.

Get Britain Out is quoted saying: “The EU courts are hell-bent on stamping out any control we have over our borders. The floodgates are open to any non-EU national living in Europe.”
