The Independent reports this morning that David Cameron is to spend the next fortnight seeking alliances in the EU for a ‘real terms freeze’ on the EU budget.
Yet a report in the Sun this morning discloses that German Chancellor Angela Merkel demands an extra £400m from British taxpayers to the EU Budget.
We don’t need to guess which statesman will get their way. Cameron, who governs a land that no longer wishes to be tied to the EU? Or Merkel, backed by the German economy that is subsidising much of Southern Europe and subsequently buys up votes in the Council?
The EU always gets its way. Not one power has ever been returned to member states. Not one penny has been reduced in our contributions. Insanity is described as doing the same thing over again and expecting different results. Such is the way of EU ‘negotiation’.
