Conservative blogger Robert Barnes writes an exclusive article for Get Britain Out:
On June 23rd last year, the British people shocked the establishment by voting to Leave the EU.
Despite the Remoaners claiming we did not know what we were voting for, in fact the opposite was true. We all knew a vote to Leave the EU was a vote to take back control of our laws, borders, trade and money.
In a series of excellent pieces over the past couple of weeks, the Daily Express has exposed the madness of OUR money which is being given out in Foreign Aid.
For example, the Department for International Development (DFID) gave out £4 million of OUR money to the Ethiopian equivalent of the Spice Girls, Yegna. This funding has now stopped.
Then there is the case of £4.6 million given to a group in Malawi which turned out to be a cult!
In 2015, Britain handed over Foreign Aid to countries such as Pakistan, Rwanda, Bangladesh, India and Zimbabwe.
The concern is that OUR money is not reaching the people it is intended to help. It is madness to send our money to countries without proper audit checks being in place. More often than not, it ends up in the pockets of corrupt officials.
This is not the best use of taxpayer’s money – OUR money!
And in addition, we are still contributing to the European Commission and the European Development Fund – without any proper accounting. We are currently giving over £1 billion a year to both. Britain has given £935 million to the European Commission, supposedly to help reduce poverty!
As well as this, in 2015, we also gave almost £400 million to the European Development Fund to assist countries in the Caribbean, Pacific and Africa.
This madness has to stop! The vanity projects have to cease!
We should be funding Adult Social Care, the NHS and our elderly whose sacrifices have helped contribute to Britain being Great – instead of spending £13.3 billion a year on Foreign Aid and funding the European Union – especially as the EU’s accounts have not been signed off for almost 20 years!
We are still committed to spending 0.7% of gross national income (GNI) on Foreign Aid, and every penny of this budget has to be spent. This is a figure which is set to rise to £16 billion by 2020.
It is time to say ‘Charity begins at home’ – and end the folly of Foreign Aid spending and sending money into the huge EU Black Hole.
The sooner we Get Britain Out of the EU, the sooner we can take back control of our money.
Please sign up to my petition here calling for the Foreign Aid budget to be spent on the NHS, Adult Social care and the elderly.
Let’s make Great Britain Great again.
