FOLLOWING ON FROM OUR ACTION E-BULLETIN, WE NEED YOUR ACTION NOW PLEASE:

Please read and print out one of the two REMAIN or LEAVE letters Get Britain Out has drafted on our website for you to send to your own MPs, asking them to oppose the watered-down Chequers deal and support an alternative Brexit proposal which really delivers on the Referendum result. (You can, of course, amend the letters as you wish).

The more letters MPs receive in their constituency offices, the more impact your messages will make. Please get those 1st class stamps ready!

You will be able to find out who your local MP is and their constituency office address here:

If you do not already know if your MP is a Leave or a Remain supporter, you will be able to find out from our comprehensive chart, which also indicates how your MP has voted during the EU Referendum Bill votes here.

The DRAFT letters for you are below.

If you believe your friends, family and colleagues will also be interested, please forward this to them to do the same, stressing the importance of action, as it is vital to show how much anger there is in the country, at a grassroots level, ensuring we reflect the extraordinary fury at the Prime Minister’s Chequers betrayal. With many thousands of supporters expected to post these letters, our intention is to show our elected politicians a mere glimpse of the nation’s hostility towards May’s current Brexit plans.

I will look forward to hearing from many of you when these letters have been posted, as we need to make an important statement against the current Brexit process.

TEMPLATE LETTER TO REMAIN MPs:

[Insert your MP’s constituency office address here]

[Date        ]

Dear [insert name here] MP,

I am writing to you as a supporter of Get Britain Out to ask you, as my elected representative, to oppose the Chequers proposal and really examine and listen to the alternative plans to properly deliver the Brexit we voted for, rather than a Botched Brexit deal. Unfortunately, the Prime Minister is not delivering a Brexit in which the sovereignty – currently surrendered to Brussels – is returned to the Palace of Westminster.

I voted to Leave the European Union in order to take back control of this country’s laws, borders, courts, money, and trade. The current Chequers proposal, pushed forward by Theresa May and her Cabinet, simply does not honour the momentous Leave result in the EU Referendum on 23rd June 2016, in which the vote to ‘Leave’ received more votes than any mandate in British electoral history.

After being completely humiliated and disrespected at the EU’s summit in Salzburg the other week, it is clear the Prime Minister must go back to the drawing board and listen to others who are proposing new directions for the Brexit negotiations. She has been told repeatedly her Chequers proposal does not work and will not be accepted by EU negotiators unless it is watered down even more, but she continues to ignore the serious concerns of the majority of the Great British Public.

It is shameful to see the Prime Minister is willing to hand over £40 billion of taxpayers’ money to unelected bureaucrats in Brussels for very little in return. The talk of a ‘Common Rulebook’ with the EU means continuing to sign up to thousands of existing pieces of legislation as well as significantly preventing our country having the ability to negotiate free trade agreements with economies and markets around the world.

I understand you previously backed Remain during the EU Referendum campaign. However, you, as a democratically elected politician – must now respect the result and ensure the outcome is properly delivered. In order to achieve a clean break from the European Union – the very thing the electorate voted for – you need to encourage the Prime Minister and your fellow colleagues, to abandon the Chequers proposal and revert back to the promises the Prime Minister set out in her Lancaster House speech.

Credible, alternative plans have been proposed by the likes of Jacob Rees-Mogg, Boris Johnson, the ERG, the IEA, and more. These plans achieve benefits that include, but are not limited to:

  • An advanced and comprehensive free trade deal with the EU based on zero tariffs and quotas on all imports and exports.
  • The implementation of Mutual Recognition Agreements covering UK and EU regulations to maintain high standards on goods and services.
  • Invest in modern technology to limit the need for custom checks at the Irish border.

These proposed plans would allow us to have the sovereign right to make our own laws and control our own trade policy, whilst working with the EU on matters of mutual interest such as security, counter-terrorism and defence cooperation.

This alternative would fulfil the instructions of the majority of Great British Public in the EU Referendum.

The former Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, was right in his fringe Conference speech yesterday, when he reiterated what is now a simple fact: we must ‘CHUCK CHEQUERS’. It is becoming increasingly crucial for you, and the rest of your parliamentary colleagues, to get this right or you will struggle to maintain legitimacy at the next General Election.

If you believe in representing voices, such as myself, in our constituency, then it is vital for you to stand against the Chequers deal and offer your support for alternative plans being proposed.

Yours sincerely,
