Having a referendum on leaving the European Union will not damage Britain’s business interests, David Cameron said yesterday.
Earlier, British Chambers of Commerce director general John Longworth said his members wanted the UK to stay in a reformed Europe but the referendum should be within a year of the election to avoid “too long a period of uncertainty”.
Luke Stanley, of Get Britain Out said:
“We welcome Mr Longworth’s call for an in-out referendum in 2016.
“David Cameron has secured no major concessions from the EU so far, with his policy being more capitulation than renegotiation”.
